With sadness in my heart i'm writing this post to announce that my loved frankenpup it's not gonna be puppy based anymore and the main reason: it's a real pain to hack puppy to get newer features to work, it was a pain to make the stable versions of kmod and eudev to work together from the init, it's even worst to try and get something like AMD crossfire to work without making a coding shitstorm to the init scripts and hoping the system boots again and Xorg doesn't shits itself and with every stable release of libs watching the system tearing itself apart over massive symbol lookup errors by the lack of a proper rolling release or update system or having 3 different versions of each lib fucking with the linker on compile time.
Currently i really don't know the fate of the 32bits version, but the 64bits is going to be a built from scratch "puppy inspired" distro, i'll try to bring back the good aspects of old puppy (2.15CE, 3.XX, 4.31) but in a newer environment, more modular, more dev friendly.
If anyone is interested on the dev phase check the frankenpup trello (dunno if i'm going to keep this name anymore =/)
I was never a good friend to the newer puppy versions, to me they are just "ubuntu-mini or slackware-mini" and still remember the good days of spending weeks on the irc channel compiling software, creating gtk frontends, helping people, making .pup and .pet like there is no tomorrow just to help puppy become a good distro, something people will use instead a "major" distro, but now for me puppy is just "install from X debian repo" or "just download the slackware package" and puppy itself as a distro is no more, just something you can put together on woof to make a lighter version of another thing.
And yeah i'm really sad, almost crying since i loved puppy and it was my main OS since 2007 but i can't relate what i liked from it in newer versions.

Frankenpup v0.5 RC3: Casi Estable
Creo que es tiempo de liberar el RC3:

frankenpup dev road map 2: FINALLY!
Well i'm finally done with the libpng16 system wide reompilation process, everything is linked to it now and there is no trace of puppy's libpng12 and libpng14, it was a shitton of configure, autogens and libtoolize but now the system is cool and compiling anything graphics related is not a clusterfuck of passed args and code fuckery. Now i'm finishing the main sfs, striping it down a bit and doing some basic testing. Will try to upload the RC2 as soon as the system is stable enough.

Bueno estoy teniendo un rato bastante desagradable recompilando un monton de libs y aplicaciones porque aguien penso "Linkiemos algunas libs y bins a versiones retrasadamente antiguas de libpng" (libpng12 y 14) y algun otro tarado le respondio "Eso suena increible!". Frankenpup v0.5 RC-1, esta vez si es verdad
Bueno, despues de un año de haberlo anunciado al fin esta aquí el ISO de frankenpup v0.5 (Release Candidate):
Algunas características:
- Kernel 3.17.8 i686. (Voy a subir una versión con kernel 4.X... quisas).
- Casi todo recompilado desde fuente (Glibc, GCC, GTK 2 and GTK 3, OpenSSL, JMW, ffmpeg, pango, cairo, etc, etc, etc).
- El sfs devx ya no incluye Python, ahora se pueden instalar python 2 y 3 desde el "administrador de paquetes"
- Agregados scripts para instalar software:
-> fpinstall: una mierda de administrador de paquetes CLI.
- Con este se puede instalar el driver AMD de vídeo (RTFM).
-> dbrowser: para escoger e instalar un navegador.
- Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Midori, Palemoon (por ahora).
- Nuevos íconos agregados para todos los MIME que existen, nuevos temas de GTK y JWM y estoy INTENTANDO hacer una puplet que se vea y funcione fluida.
- Estoy trabajando para mejorar el tiempo de carga y estoy "optimizando" el script init (eliminando moludos antiguos como el de las disketteras y jodiendo con el código del init tabién) .
- DRI y mesa incluidos.

Algunas características:
- Kernel 3.17.8 i686. (Voy a subir una versión con kernel 4.X... quisas).
- Casi todo recompilado desde fuente (Glibc, GCC, GTK 2 and GTK 3, OpenSSL, JMW, ffmpeg, pango, cairo, etc, etc, etc).
- El sfs devx ya no incluye Python, ahora se pueden instalar python 2 y 3 desde el "administrador de paquetes"
- Agregados scripts para instalar software:
-> fpinstall: una mierda de administrador de paquetes CLI.
- Con este se puede instalar el driver AMD de vídeo (RTFM).
-> dbrowser: para escoger e instalar un navegador.
- Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Midori, Palemoon (por ahora).
- Nuevos íconos agregados para todos los MIME que existen, nuevos temas de GTK y JWM y estoy INTENTANDO hacer una puplet que se vea y funcione fluida.
- Estoy trabajando para mejorar el tiempo de carga y estoy "optimizando" el script init (eliminando moludos antiguos como el de las disketteras y jodiendo con el código del init tabién) .
- DRI y mesa incluidos.

Frankenpup v0.5: This time for real.
Well after a year since i announced it here you guys have (finally) a frankenpup v0.5 ISO (Release Candidate):
Some features:
- Kernel 3.17.8 i686. (will offer a version with kernel 4.X... maybe).
- Recompiled almost everything from stable latest sources. (Glibc, GCC, GTK 2 and GTK 3, OpenSSL, JMW, ffmpeg, pango, cairo, etc, etc, etc).
- Python no more included on the devx sfs, instead you can install python 2 and 3 from the "package manager".
- Added custom scripts to install tested software:
-> fpinstall: a really shitty CLI package manage.
- You can install the AMD video drivers from this script (RTFM).
-> dbrowser: to choose an install a tested broser.
- Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Midori, Palemoon (for now).
- New Icons added for every fucking mime type ever, new JWM and GTK themes and i'm TRYING to make a smooth good looking puplet.
- Working to make the boot time faster and "optimizing the init" (by disabling or removing old as fuck kernel modules for old as fuck storage media like fucking floppy and some code fuckery) .
- DRI out of the box, mesa and stuffs.
